Whole Person Leadership Seminar – October 1, 2010
Seattle University School of Law, Host Sponsor
Seattle, WA
August 10, 2010
“Leadership involves the whole person, beginning at the level of the individual. Who am I at the core? What is my cultural context? What parts of my inner self may be unrecognized or obscured, but may be essential for my leadership to blossom? These are some of the essential questions we explore. From the individual level, we go to the interpersonal and organizational levels”, says Peggy Nagae, Program Director for The Center for Asian Pacific American Women.
The Whole Person Leadership Conference designed by The Center for APA Women with host sponsor, Seattle University School of Law, looks at leadership from the individual, interpersonal and organizational levels and integrates them. Through self-awareness and self-reflective exercises, group dialog and a myriad of other tools, we gain greater clarity and focus on our Whole Person Leadership skills.
The day begins with a keynote followed by an exciting panel of highly successful APA women in diverse industries and sectors who will share their challenges, skills, and breakthroughs. Lunch follows with panelists, invited guests and board members from The Center for APA Women joining participants at their tables to continue the leadership conversation. Highly interactive, participants will have the opportunity ask questions during the panel and to ask additional ones at lunch.
Breakout groups will be part of the afternoon agenda. Puanani Burgess, a well-known facilitator and community bridge builder, shares what is important and meaningful to be human. Rich in self-reflection and sharing of stories, each participant explores What is my story? What is my purpose? How am I connected? This period of reflection and interaction offers participants the opportunity to gain skills in listening, self reflection, and the underlying motivations for becoming a successful leader, who uses both intellectual and emotional intelligences.
The program is designed for and focused on Asian Pacific American women professionals and those working in the area of diversity and inclusion, or who manage APA professionals .
